morely 232 comms card

as you'll know from the other thread, i have a ZX1e at home, which is connected to the intruder alarm to notify me if there's a fire.
i've always thought it'd be better if i could get actual zone/device info from the panel. to do this i was going to use the printer output connected to a pi, but i've just come accross this, but can't find any info on it!
if i get one, will i be able to interface the panel to other RS-232 devices, or is this only for panel to panel comms?
