callpoints in EX areas

Hi Guys, is there any circumstance where a non EX rated manual callpoint can be used in an ATEX zone 2 area, my boss seems to think this is ok as long as the end of line resistor is in the safe area at the barrier as opposed to being at the actual end of circuit, i'm not convinced and can't find any info that says this is permitted, any ideas?
