morning. 2 questions about gent vigilons
1 - we have a vigilon network (8 panels linked by 3 fibre optic network nodes and all 3 are set as node 1 on different domains) with an intermittent wiring fault at one of the fibre nodes. resetting card 6 clears the fault as does leaving it alone and it resets itself. gent tech have said that it shouldn't be a copper AND a fibre network which it is - is this really a problem? It's a lot of work to rewire all in one or the other! and they also said that the 3 fibre network nodes should not all be addressed as node 1 and this could be causing problems even though they're on different domains - possible? the site has been o.k. for years so I'm not sure what difference changing node numbers would do now as I've been looking after this site for 2 years and only had problems in the last few weeks.
2 - one of the other main panels (not a fibre node) has dodgy buttons - menu and cancel buzzer are iffy, silence and reset work fine. We have 2 other spare doors and I was wondering about fitting one of those to clear the problem. Is there anything vital stored in the door of a vigilon which would be lost if I changed doors? This panel is old (1998) and the pins are on the backbox of the panel, not on the door itself. I changed ribbon cables yesterday with not much improvement and didn't cause any problems powering down the panels.
cheers for any responses....
