Hi,

We're having problems with a Siemens FC2020 that is an existing installation at one of our clients sites - any ideas? Or anybody in the London area who is able to work on this panel that could provide us with a cost to attend and rectify?

Detection appears to be working, loop power sounders are not - any ideas or a cost please to attend and rectify - the system is in Shepherds Bush, I don't know where you're based :-)

as you'll know from the other thread, i have a ZX1e at home, which is connected to the intruder alarm to notify me if there's a fire.
i've always thought it'd be better if i could get actual zone/device info from the panel. to do this i was going to use the printer output connected to a pi, but i've just come accross this, but can't find any info on it!
if i get one, will i be able to interface the panel to other RS-232 devices, or is this only for panel to panel comms?

Anybody recognise this panel?, have a customer who wants to change but is worried about compatibility with existing base sounders and Hochiki detectors.

Removing and replacing Gent Vigilon

Evening chaps.

Just got a phone call (at 11.20pm !!!) from a potential client who reckons he is paying his alarm company £1300 per year to service his system twice annually. He has a Gent Vigilon with less than 20 devices.

When he mentioned Gent , as usual for us, i heaved a large sigh and said I cant really touch it as we are not approved Gent installers and have no intention of becoming one.

They then asked whether the panel could be replaced with a different type and therefore remove the need to use Gent approved technicians.

I have no experience of working on them so I have no idea whether this is an option. I also have no idea what type of detectors he has in place.

Anyone any idea if this is possible without replacing the detectors, sounders etc?

Outdoor rated strobe.

Im looking for an outdoor rated strobe unit, that gives a good light output, but doesnt have a huge current draw.

I have a large warehouse that has asked me to quote for 2 external strobe units, to let their fork lift drivers know not to enter the building. These are large doors and to be honest, I dont envisage the drivers to take any notice, especially the way they drive. THe sounders will be on the end of an existing conventional sounder cct, off an MX4400 networked system. There is no local mains supply, so Im going to have to add at least 120mts of 1.5 mm from the EOL sounder, which isnt that far away. This is why I need a low power unit, that will operate from a 12-24 volt supply, as Im estimating a little voltage loss.

Any suggestions on a make ?

Fire alarm linked to EML

Anybody come across this before? We upgraded a system a while ago where the fire alarm had output units connected to a bank of contactors above each DB to drop the power to the emergency lights. Today I took over a Kentec Solo and found an output unit above a ceiling connected into an addressable emergency lighting fitting, presumably to switch them on (although I don't know if this was the case)

Sounds like an odd set up but I can sort of see why in a way :)

Battery connection adaptor

Im after the small adaptors to fix to a 26ah battery which will allow me to plug the charger lead in using a spade connector rather than using lugs with a nut and screw.

Ive got a few to fit next week in small cabinets and theae would make life abit easier.

Does anyone know what they are called & where i can purchase these?

I have to replace a detector on one of these but don't have high enough access on the panel to address it myself so will get it programmed off site. Does a sounder base on this panel share the device address or is it separate? If separate do you get these programmed the same way as a head?
Brand new panel for me, why is there a loop in a repeater, is it a repeater off a loop or a loop off a repeater??
Yeah I need a manual!

Morley Hochiki

Hi,
Any experiences of issues with Morley ZX5se and Hochiki ALN-EN detectors.
Hochiki have said that panels supporting the older ALG-EN will support the new detector, but Morley are saying they are not approved.

Any thoughts?

Morley Network Faults causing spuradic alarrms

Over the past couple of years we have been having problems on two hospital sites where sounders would go off without any fire signals showing on the panels.
First cause was found to be the HI 485 fault tolerant networks at fault. This proved to be a manufacturing fault which Morley admitted to. They supplied all replacement HI 485 cards and these were fitted back in April this year. A couple of weeks ago the sounders started to go off again without any fire signals on the panels.
Derek from Morley attended site today and highlighted that the fault was the 850 firmware in the panels. The issue he said was that when they were first installed they would behave ok but after a couple of months the faults started re-appearing again.
Solution he has said that to rectify the fault I will have to change all the firmware to 845 as this is known to be ok.
Firmware produced after this version is now made in India

DF6000 / CF3000

Can anyone help me out with one of these - trying to get a cf3000 up and running.


About 30 devices - the panel will autolearn but will constantly show up with double addresses after it's finished only half the devices show up on the list.

I've spoken to their tech people a few times and they are helpful to a degree.

Wiring all checks out with full continuity, ins and outs all correct.

I've tried splitting the loop - adding things one by one tried everything I can think of (that I'm used to doing on other panels) and still no joy.

Tried swapping devices round etc.

If anyone else has any ideas - I'd be most grateful!

Kentec synchro

I was working on a synchro yesterday when a sounder on one loop came on on its own and would not stop , this is the hakuto based devices.
The system has a couple of earth faults and loop open ccts and devices un allocated, which is why I am working on it .
Has anyone had this happen before?

Fike Duonet panel

In case anyone comes across these, they are soft addressed system & you require a laptop with software to do anything.

However, I've just come off the phone to Fike and they now provide training FREE OF CHARGE (steps back in amazement). Not only that, but when you do the training they give you the software, yep, you guessed it - ABSOLUTELY FREE OF CHARGE!

Tyco Minerva duct detector specs

Hello everyone

I am looking for the flow specs for Tyco Minerva SMP-35 duct detectors. This is what I have so far (not 100% sure this is correct)

Min flow >or= 0.1mmH2O
Max flow Min duct flow 8.3 M3/minute
Max duct flow 139 M3/minute

I've checked commissioning, install and maintenance papers, email Tyco... nothing. Tyco doesn't seem to have answers to this or I am asking the wrong person.
Hoping someone on the forum has the answer?

C-tec Cfp panel & Menvier detectors

Happy New Year to everybody .

Is it ok to use a C-tec cfp panel and Menvier smoke detectors .

I have had no issues in the past, but had false alarms on one site and found found a detector going Amber and the back to normal without resetting the panel.

Could be a faulty detector ? I have replaced it but will have to wait and see if problem resolved.

morley & system sensor sounders keep sounding after weekly test

slow day so here goes with a minor irritation...

morley zx5e (2 panels in 1 box 10 loop version) using 833 software and system sensor addressable sounders (wmsou-rr-p01)
occasionally (4 times in the last 1-2 years) a random sounder will keep ringing after the weekly test. this is usually cleared by removing and reseating it. however I wondered if anyone else had found this minor problem? no particular loop or panel. old pyro cabling left in place from the 1980's so this may be causing the problem but i wondered if there's anything obvious like old software or an incompatibility

battery carbon monoxide detector with relay output?

my housemate on the top floor has decided to buy a gas fireplace thing and i feel uneasy with him being alone with it in his bedroom without some sort of gas alarm. there is already a smoke and sounder in there, so i was thinking of putting a ZMU on the loop and connecting it to a carbon monoxide detector.

i was hoping to get one through our suppliers at work like i did with the one in the kitchen, but all the ones with a relay output require an external power source which isn't possible in this case as the panel is 2 floors down.

does anybody know of any standalone carbon monoxide detectors with a relay (and preferably low batt/fault) output(s)?
